Reflection on Blogging

I would say that my journey with blogs started this term from this class, and hopefully it will never stop. I've always thought that blogs are great ways to share ideas, news, etc. However, before this course, I had never thought that I could use blogs in school.

Unfortunately, in Saudi Arabia, technology is not being used in Education as much as it should be. One of my goals for my future career is to discover as many tools that could be used in education as I can. I think blogs are really good tools to be used for that purpose. Using blogs, teacher would be able to create engaging online lectures where they can include Text, videos, images, or podcasts. They can also have their students discuss and post their assignments online.

This is the first time I use Blogger and I love it! What I like about Blogger is the ease of use and its versatility. I didn't have a hard time building my own blog and organizing it. I also had fun adding some gadgets to my blog that I thought are useful for me and my visitors. I also like how it's easy to manipulate the templates to build a more unique blog.

I remember last term ,in creating websites class, that I had such a hard time to create a blog in my own website, and I faced difficulties to get my website connected with western database. I think connecting blogging software programs to our websites would be a great way to add blogs to our websites.

I'm sure that blogging will help me with my future career, my personal life, and will hopefully connect me with people with the same fields and interests.

Joe Sabia: The Technology of Storytelling

First, I would say that I loved the way that the speaker was presenting his story and I like how the way he was presenting is directly related to the purpose of his story. second, I think that this short presentation could be useful for teachers. The old fashioned ways of delivering knowledge became useless. Teacher should use state-of-art technologies as teaching tools. These tools are more evolving and more engaging than just the printed words.

Make Your Blog Popular (Marketing Plan):

How can I make my blog popular? I've read some articles about this subject, and I noticed that It's really  important and challenging to get readers attention. There are thousands and thousands of blogs down there, but the question is how can you get your blog noticed?

First, make a right decision about what you are going to write about. Be passionate, I f you don't like technology, don't start a technology blog. choose something you are interested in, you are good at. If you don't enjoy it, your readers won’t enjoy it either.

Second, I read about SEO Search Engine Optimization, which is you should make sure that your blog optimized as possible in being found by Google, yahoo or other search engines. For more information about SEO visit this website Seomoz.

Third, The first thing readers notice, is the headline. Make sure that your titles attention grabbing which gets readers to go through your blog. Also, make sure that the content shows what readers expect from the titles.

Fourth, Blog Commenting, which is basically reading others blogs and leaving comments. Make sure that your comments are thoughtful. What is good about this strategy that it gets your blog noticed by thousands of readers. That way, people will see your comments and will view your blog.

Finally, Tell people about it. You should always ask your friends to visit your blog. Look for people who share your interest. Use your social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc to invite people to read your blogs.

Can We Use Blogs in Education?

Blogging can be used in education as well. It can be a classroom management tool. Teachers can post assignments and materials on the classroom’s page. They can also create online lectures that include Text, videos, images, or podcast. Using blogs in education can also help parents to be informed of what’s going on in their children's classrooms. That way, we can involve parents in their children’s education. Blogs are also providing flexible work time for students. They can be worked on at any time as long as the students have access to the internet.

Blogs and Society

I've read a couple of articles about blogging, how it affects our life today, and how it can be used in Education. We all know that ,recently, social networking sites have exploded across the web, and we all agree that these sites have both advantages and disadvantages. Blogging (using either Blogger, Wordbress, etc) is one of these social networking sites that keep you in touch with other people. The best description to blogs is personal online journal. There is no limit to what may be covered in a blog. People could write about their family, friends, work, or simply about anything.
