OLPC XO 3.0 Tablet

The OLPC XO 3.0 was officially unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas a cople weeks ago. This tablet created by OLPC is an educational tablet for use in low-power locations. It's been designed for outdoor use (a PixelQi outdoor readable display, and a solar panel). It has a green and white plastic design and comes with a rugged cover for the screen, which delivers 1024x768 pixels resolution. It includes 512 MB of DDR2 memory and 4 GB of NAND flash storage.

 low-power, low-cost:
The new XO 3.0 tablet takes extremely low power, with a good price points. It has unique battery-charging methods. It features a solar panel cover, which makes it helpful for outdoor activities. If you keep solar panel cover under the sun for only one hour, it'll be enough to keep the tablet running for more than two hours. It also has the hand crank that could charge the battery by rotating the handle. OLPC also says that the XO 3.0 is waterproof. What I really like about The new XO 3.0 tablet is the price. It designed to be inexpensive. You can find it as low as $100.

Change in Education!
The XO 3.0 tablet would provide State-of-the-Art tools to students all over the world especially in the developing countries. With this price most of the students would be able to afford it. The tablet has almost all the educational tools can be found in other ones. You can download e-books, view images, browse the web, etc. Edward McNierney, chief technology officer of One Laptop Per Child, said: “We’re proud to introduce the XO 3.0 tablet, showcasing the design, durability and performance features that make it a natural successor for our current laptops, which have been distributed to more than 2.4 million children in 42 countries and in 25 languages".

  1. This is a very interesting device especially considering that the batteries can be charged with either the solar cell option or the hand-crank option. This could be a great benefit to the education of children everywhere and it fits so well with my philosophy of reaching out to people around the world.

As I read the title of this blog I was eagerly looking forward to "your" review of the device and was saddened to see that it was only a paraphrase of other reviews. Mostly I was saddened because of the implication of the title and the actual writing. I would expect more of your ideas when you call it "my review." If you're going to restate other individuals' reviews, perhaps the title should reflect that as well.
